SSMD and 26 incredible partners have begun working together to develop and provide Person Centered Planning Training to people with developmental disabilities and family members throughout Maryland. Providing consult in many areas as well as training, people with disabilities and family members are immediate leaders in this grant’s work. The combination of partner experience and expertise is incredible and we are anxiously moving through beginning stages of our work ~ recruiting the Advisory Group, then quickly onward to develop our initial communication and outreach plan and training modules, training trainers and training! The Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC) is a workplace charitable giving program that offers State Employees and eligible Retirees the opportunity to contribute to charities using the convenience of payroll deduction. Currently, nearly 1,000 charities participate in the Campaign. The 2019 MCC runs October 8-December 17, 2019 In 2018, Maryland’s Employees and Retirees raised more than $2.6 million for 800 worthy causes. That collective generosity directly impacted the public health, safety, and welfare of Marylanders by providing, food, shelter, healthcare, mental health services, services to the poor, homeless, and those suffering from addiction, in addition to supporting the arts, faith-based initiatives, and much more. Mastering the Active Facilitation Approach ~ December 2019!

December 18, 2019 ~ 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. December 19, 2019 ~ 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Elkridge Branch, Howard County Library 6540 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD 21075 Ultra productive meetings have many elements ~ one of them is a skilled facilitator! Organizations are turning to collaborative approaches to get work done better and faster!  Planning meetings require the best of us in collaboration with others. Practice to manage these skills ~ the result is highly productive, action oriented meetings. This two-day course in the active facilitation approach ~ presents the role of the facilitator as a combination of leading and supporting, and offers techniques designed to help groups be as creative and productive as they can be, focusing on the skills of: Organizing and preparing for meetings, Opening work sessions, Leading group discussions, Helping groups reach consensus, Managing conflict in groups and Brainstorming.
